How to check your tarot reading in four steps
- Write your question. The one you had in mind when you shuffled, up to 150 characters.
- Choose the topic. General, Love, Work, Money, Health or Spiritual. The same card reads differently in each.
- Add your cards. Pick the cards you drew, up to seven, and set the position of each: Past, Present, Future, Advice, Obstacle, Hidden influence or Outcome.
- Read the meaning. Each card gets its own interpretation for that topic and that position.
Why a card does not mean the same thing everywhere
The Tower is the clearest example. In a love reading it points to a sudden break, a truth that can no longer be ignored. In a work reading it can mean a restructure, or a role that stops making sense. In the Past position it describes what has already collapsed; as Advice, it tells you not to defend something that is already falling.
That is why you will not find one generic paragraph per card here. The meaning you see depends on the topic and the position you chose, the same way a tarot reader weighs them.
What each position means
- Past: what led to the situation and still shapes it.
- Present: the energy around you right now.
- Future: where things are heading if nothing changes.
- Advice: what the cards suggest you do.
- Obstacle: what is standing in the way.
- Hidden influence: what you cannot see yet, or are avoiding.
- Outcome: where the situation is likely to land.
Tips for reading your own spread
Read the cards as a story, in the order you drew them, not as isolated definitions. Notice repeated suits: several Cups point to emotion, Swords to thought and conflict, Wands to action, Pentacles to money and the material world. A run of Major Arcana usually signals a bigger turning point than everyday events.
The meanings here are for upright cards. Reversed cards are not covered yet, so enter a reversed card as upright. The card list follows the classic 78-card structure with Rider-Waite-Smith names, so it works with any deck that has the same cards.

Which tarot deck does it work with?

Any deck with the standard 78 cards. Names and numbers follow the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition (for example, Strength is 8 and Justice is 11). Marseille and Thoth decks share the same structure of 22 Major and 56 Minor Arcana, although some names, numbers and court cards differ.
